What to do after your session is over {Edmonton Family Photography}

I sell digital files. I do this because I try to run a business the way I would want to be treated if I were a client. If I were a client I would want the option to print a bunch of 4×6′s at Costco and send them to everyone I know., but I would also see the value of a few wall prints that were printed at a pro lab so that I could display the best quality pictures in my house ( and I know my clients agree). That is why I am thinking of adding a print credit to my packages, because I want to make it easier for my clients to buy those wall prints! So I want to hear from you guys, do you think this is a good idea? I’ve included some images that I think would make great wall groupings in this post, because if you’re going to make the pictures big I think they should be great quality too (and I want to make that easier for all of my clients)!

Springtime in Edmonton has come, and with it I have had the privilege of shooting some wonderful families in the new green leaves! One of the first families I shot this spring was also one of my favorites. I have been photographing them since their youngest daughter was just one year old! I have been blessed to see their family grow through the eye of my lens

May Blog Chalange Beautiful / Ugly {Edmonton Photographer}

Originally I figured that this challenge was going to be HARD. I mean what exactly is beautiful /ugly? Fortunately the more I though about this challenge the more excited I became about exploring the dichotomy of object and scenes that are both beautiful ugly.

I am going to break this blog post into two parts. The first is beautiful / ugly : Found Objects. Both images were taken on our recent family trip to Drumheller. The first is an old farm house left to rot on the side of the road, I love the beauty in the decay. The second is a T-Rex (my sons favorite dinosaur) the fossil is big, scary and ultimately ugly, yet the play of light off the dinosaur head is beautiful (I think ).

The second part of this post is beautiful / ugly : The Concept Shoot.

When thinking of things that are both beautiful and ugly I thought of ballerinas. I know this seems to be an odd choice because ballerinas are generally only considered beautiful, but if you ever look closely ballet is a bit ugly too. Ballet makes your body into something unnatural. You destroy yourself to create body positions that the average person would never attempt to create, and in this ugliness you find beauty. My oldest daughter Devlynn and I went downtown (to further enhance the ugly / beautiful disunion) to do some street ballet. April Personal Project – Shooting through glass {Edmonton Family Photographer}

I joined an online group for women photographers recently so that I could learn to push myself creatively. I was feeling that while I love my professional work my personal work was just blah, it was unimaginative and I wasn’t sure what to do personally to change it. When April’s assignment came and the inspiration was shooting through glass I had some crazy awesome ideas, then life intervened. My youngest was called to the hospital for surgery. After surgery life was slow to get back to normal and my littlest one was sore. So instead of going out and creating opportunities to shoot through glass we shot through our glass at home. This is my sad little girl still in pain after her surgery (shot through the glass at my back door).

When I heard that miss Jodi was expecting a baby I couldn’t wait to ask her to model for me. You see Jodi has an infectious personality and a joie de vivre that I couldn’t wait to capture. When the opportunity to team up with Conni my partner at Life.Style Wedding photography and make this session a boudoir/ maternity session I jumped on it.
